Science World celebrates renewal with Free Day
Admission to TELUS World of Science free on December 17
Presented by the James Dyson Foundation and
Supported by Encana Corporation
VANCOUVER, BC—Free Day is back! To thank the community for its support, Science World is waiving
the admission price for all visitors to Science World at TELUS World of Science on Saturday, December
17. This special event is made possible thanks to our presenting sponsor, the James Dyson Foundation,
and our supporting sponsor, Encana Corporation.
“We are extremely grateful for the outstanding support, dedication, and patience of our community
over the last year-and-a-half as we’ve undergone renovations,” says Bryan Tisdall, Science World’s
president and CEO. “This free day is our way of saying thank you. It’s also our chance to show off what
we’ve been up to behind the hoarding walls and construction barriers. Also, to our supporters and
visitors, a huge thank you for your understanding when we unfortunately had to cancel our original Free
Day.”
Visitors will be able to explore Science World’s new spaces at TELUS World of Science, including the 11,000 square-foot Eureka! Gallery, the bigger and better Search Gallery, and the new Our World
Gallery that overlooks what will become the Ken Spencer Science Park. Construction on the park has
already started and it is expected to open in spring 2012.
Science World’s facility has undergone a $3- million renovation over the past year and a half. The
renovation has added 30,000 square feet of space, a green roof, and many energy-efficient initiatives.
The organization is still raising the last $3 million to complete the renewal.
“We’re looking forward to seeing everyone on Saturday,” says Tisdall. “Whether it’s your first visit or
your fiftieth, we hope you’ll be inspired by your experience with us.”
