VSB, Hastings Elementary Ally Club,
One of the first elementary GSAs
The Vancouver School Board ,VSB, has now a policy in place that protects students and employees that self-identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, transsexual, two-spirit, or who are questioning their sexual orientation or gender identity. The board claims to be establishing safe and inviting school learning environments, but in fact is discriminating against the majority of children who see themselves male and female or boys and girls. Today this is no longer politically correct. To end so-called discrimination and harassment against some students, the board has gone ahead to adopt policies that discriminate and abuse all students. The board states it can do this because of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the B. C. Human Rights Act and the Collective Agreements. They are prepared to enforce the contents of these documents in order to protect the LGBTTBQ students and staff.
So what if parents disagree with this policy? What if students don’t accept sections of these new policies? They will be accused of bigotry, discrimination, harassment and even hate crimes. Parents and students who challenge these new regulations will not be supported. The board has taken a side: they will act and seriously address "homophobic" complaints. In short, all parents must accept this socially constructed "reality" of those who identify with one or more of a dozen sexual orientations. Parents must tolerate and value “diversity and respect differences.” Parental rights are been completely violated.
The leadership of the VSB is essentially committed to promoting and recognizing lesbian, gay, transgender, transexual, two-spirited, bisexual and questioning youth. Administrators, teachers, counsellors and other staff must make sure to implement this policy. In short, homosexuality is now a board priority and is part of the school curriculum as well as all related resources and activities. For teachers and other staff not on side with this policy, there will be professional development opportunities for training for the purposes of changing of attitudes. To be hired by the board one has to accept homosexuality. The board must have counsellors that are sensitive and have an understanding of the LGBTTQ issues and students. The policy is to be followed both at the high school and elementary levels. Schools at the requests of students are to establish gay/straight alliance clubs, GSAs. This is the same misguided policy that we currently have in Ontario and Prince Edward Island. It's all about the gaying of Canadian schools.
The board will prohibit all "homophobic" harassment. This means that ''Any language or behaviour that deliberately degrades, denigrates, labels, stereotypes, incites hatred, prejudice, discrimination, harassment towards students or employees on the basis of their real or perceived sexual orientation or gender identification will not be tolerated." Notice that when it comes to sexuality students will be protected "on the basis of their real or perceived sexual orientation or gender identification." Truth and facts no longer matter in this make believe world of sexual perception and identity.
These ideas are totally dangerous and they discriminate against students and parents who question that view of human sexuality. How can the board defend "perceived sexual orientation," but is prepared to reject sexuality based on reality and biology. Many students believe that sexually they are males and females or boys and girls. The VSB policy allows one to argue that this Christian view is discriminatory and prejudicial. The VSB like the Toronto District School Board are implementing policies that make the Christian view of sexuality, marriage and the family no longer acceptable.
This is the biggest and most dangerous experiment that Canadian schools are undertaking without the consent of parents. It's much worse than the sexual revolution of the 1960s. It's the moral and legal abuse of children. The ideology is an open attack of the Christian view of the person, the family and marriage. Parents must do whatever they can to protect their children from this morally misguided propaganda and dangerous ideas.
The terms and the language used to teach this policy will confuse children. Parents must take action in order to stop this madness. If you don't believe how deceptive this sexual and immoral experiment is on students, just take a look at the definition the board gives for "genderism: refers to the assumption that one’s gender identity or gender expression will conform to traditionally held stereotypes associated with one’s biological sex." So all the students and parents who see themselves as males and females are guilty of believing in "traditionally held stereotypes associated with one’s biological sex." These "stereotypes" must be eradicated and made to conform to LGBTTQ policy which trumps biology and the truth.
This sex curriculum is not education, but the indoctrination of young minds. It's reverse discrimination against the majority of students in the name of normalizing homosexuality. Parents must be prepared for this language deception and explain it to their children in order to hold on to the truth. Parental rights are protected by Canadian law and Article 26 of The Universal Declaration of human Rights. Parents must not let counterfeit rights trump true rights like the right parents have to direct their children's education, not the province or the state. Parents should not be afraid to take action to protect their children. Here are some of the other misleading sexual terms that students already are forced to accept if parents do and say nothing:
Gay: a man who is romantically and sexually attracted to other men. It is sometimes used to refer to the general GLBTQ community, but most often refers to just gay men.
Lesbian: a woman who is romantically and sexually attracted to other women. This term originates with the female poet Sappho who lived in a community comprised predominantly of women on the Isle of Lesbos in ancient Greece.
Bisexual: generally used to describe people who are romantically and/or sexually attracted to people of more than one sex or gender.
Sex; Gender: it is easy to confuse these two concepts and terms; however, they are different. Sex refers to the biological sex of a person. Gender refers to their societal appearance, mannerisms, and roles.
Transgender: an umbrella term used to refer to people who transcend the traditional concept of gender. Many feel as though they are neither a man nor a woman specifically, and many feel as though their biological sex (male, female, etc.) and their socialized gender (man, woman, etc.) don’t match up. Some opt to change/reassign their sex through hormones and/or surgery and some change their outward appearance, or gender expression, through clothing, hairstyles, mannerisms, etc.
Transvestite: more appropriately referred to as “cross-dressing,” the term transvestite most often refers to males who dress in the clothing of women. The term drag usually refers to dressing in the clothing and styles of another gender for entertainment purposes.
Transsexual: used to describe those individuals who use hormone therapy and/or surgery to alter their sex.
Two-Spirit: used by some First Nations to describe people in their culture who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender.
Questioning: people who are in the process of questioning their sexual orientation are often in need of support and understanding during this stage of their identity. They are seeking information and guidance in their self-discovery.
Ally: an individual who is supportive of the GLBTQ community. They believe in the dignity and respect of all people, and are willing to stand up in that role.
Homosexual: a scientific term invented in the 1800’s to refer to individuals who are sexually attracted to their own sex/gender.
Heterosexual: created around the same time as ‘homosexual’ to describe individuals who are sexually attracted to the opposite sex/gender.
Straight: a slang word used to refer to the heterosexual members of our community.
Heterosexism and Homophobia: the term heterosexism refers to the assumption that all people are heterosexual and that heterosexuality is superior and more desirable than homosexuality. “Homophobia” is defined as “the irrational fear and hatred of homosexuals.” Both of these are perpetuated by negative stereotypes and are dangerous to individuals and communities.
Genderism: refers to the assumption that one’s gender identity or gender expression will conform to traditionally held stereotypes associated with one’s biological sex.
Sexual Orientation: is a personal characteristic that covers the range of human sexuality from gay and lesbian, to bisexual, transgender and heterosexual orientations.
Gender Identity: a person’s gender identity is the way in which they define and act on their gender. Gender Expression is how they express their gender.
Queer: the term queer has a history of being used as a derogatory name for members of the GLBTQ (and Ally) community and those whose sexual orientation is perceived as such. Many people use this word in a positive way to refer to the community; they have reclaimed the term as their own.
