44岁华裔母接孩子放学被严重超速跑车撞死

  事发时从列市驱车接温市子女  惨遭炮弹飞车狂撼

  在列治文周三发生的8车相撞严重交通意外、当场丧生的女死者,据悉是44岁华裔母亲,名叫常涛。事发时她驾车前往温哥华一所私校接载一对子女放学,岂料遭遇飞来横祸,被一辆严重超速的名贵开篷跑车撞死。而身在中国的死者丈夫现正赶赴温市,办理后事。

  警方虽未证实死者身分,但表示意外成因无疑同肇事汽车严重超速有关。在车祸中的死伤者全是女性,受重伤的3个女子现经手术后伤势由危殆转为严重,目前情况稳定。

  在惨烈车祸发生翌日,有署名「心小缔Cindy」的网友在新浪微博留言称,「出事的是妈妈的朋友,当时正开去温哥华私校接一对子女。她是在左转灯的地方等待。」对此,列市皇家骑警发言人特利(Sherrdean Turley)未予证实,但她表示,死者居住列治文,是2个孩子的母亲。

  特利同时透露车祸细节,事发周三下午3时30分左右,一辆正沿乃街(Knight St.)夹西敏公路(Westminster Hwy.)西行的Aston Martin名贵开篷跑车,以非常快的速度勐烈撞击在路口等待转灯的一辆平治(Mercedes-Benz)四驱车(SUV),酿成涉及本田(Honda)Odyssey、福特(Ford)Escape等8车相撞车祸。

  平治车辆中44岁女司机当场死亡,而Aston Martin的2个40多岁女子,以及另一车中的30岁女司机重伤,事后被送医救治,3人伤势目前由危殆转为严重。

  特利强调,意外调查工作尚属初步阶段,警方初步相信车祸同Aston Martin跑车严重超速有关;她说:「事发地点时速限制60公里,跑车时速非常快,简直快得『荒唐的』(ridiculous)。」但她未有透露究竟超速多少。

  特利也强调,骑警会对其他可能造成车祸的因素展开调查,包括Aston Martin司机是否醉驾或滥用药物,以及周边路面情况等。

  据列治文区报《列治文评论》(Richmond Review)报道,事发时在西敏公路夹6号路(No.6 Rd.)一工地指挥交通的威利斯(Willis),目击一辆时速约200公里的汽车冲红灯,拦腰撞向现场其他车辆。而一些见义勇为好市民,即时协助车祸受害人逃生。

  据报,在加拿大全国每年约售出10辆Aston Martin DB9s名贵开篷跑车,每部车价约20万元。

The multi-vehicle crash on Knight Street and Westminster Highway claimed the life of a 44-year-old Richmond woman.
“An Aston Martin convertible was westbound on Westminster Highway & collided with a Mercedes SUV that was standing still in traffic, causing a multi vehicle chain reaction,” stated Cpl. Sherrdean Turley, Media Relations Officer for Richmond Detachment.  “The convertible was traveling at an extremely high rate of speed.”

The occupants in the convertible were two females in their mid forties and were air lifted to the hospital with life threatening injuries. They have undergone surgery and are in critical but stable condition.
A 30-year-old female was the driver of another vehicle involved in the accident, she was transported to the hospital by ambulance with serious injuries and is in critical but stable condition.
The eight vehicle collusion shut down the intersection for several hours.

Richmond RCMP would like to thank several witnesses who sacrificed their own safety in order to assisted the victims of the crash.
The RCMP are urging any other witnesses to come forward and contact the RCMP’s Road Safety Unit at 604 – 278 -1212.

Convertible sparks deadly eight-vehicle crash: police

         A speeding convertible was the first in a chain reaction in a deadly multi-vehicle crash in Richmond on Wednesday, police say.  
        The crash was sparked when an Aston Martin convertible travelling along Westminster Highway collided with a Mercedes SUV that was standing still in traffic, said Cpl. Sherrdean Turley.
        Eight vehicles were involved in the accident, which happened at the intersection of Knight Street and Westminster Highway at around 3:30 p.m.

        A 44-year-old Richmond woman whose name has not yet been released was killed.
        “The convertible was travelling at an extremely high rate of speed,” said Turley.
        The two female occupants of the convertible, both in their 40’s, were airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
        The 30-year-old female driver of another vehicle was taken to hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.
        According to police, all three are now in critical but stable condition.
